Fun Fabulous Facts About Classic Promotional Products
From the Article Written by Tonia Cook Kimbrough for Advantages Magazine

Pencil You In
If you want a surefire way to pencil yourself into a buyer's schedule, consider a promotional campaign featuring the classic writing instrument.  Yes, the basic pencil has "written" its way into promotional fame thanks to an inexpensive price "point" and flawless utility.
    *    A 7-inch pencil can write an average of 45,000 words.
    *    Bread crumbs were originally used as pencil erasers.

Mug It Up
Equally impressive in its enduring value and collectible charm is the promotional mug.  A recent article in The Wall Street Journal determined that this basic item is likely the best marketing value available.

 Love That Lanyard

The ever-useful lanyard has a colorful history.  European infantrymen of the 17th and 18th centuries, known as "dragoons" used lanyards - or sword knots - to secure their sabers to their wrists.  Today, the promotional lanyard is far less imposing - gracing the necks of trade show attendees milling the aisles of an exhibition hall.  That front-and-center positioning makes the lanyard a very cost effective way to advertise a company name.

Tout The Tee
Of course, for the school-age consumer, one of the most beloved of promotional items is the message T-shirt.  According to a Jerzees Activewear survey, 79% of 18- to 24-year olds own more than 10 T-shirts, and 19% own more than 30 T-shirts.
    * The Guinness World Record for the most T-shirts worn
at a time goes to Matt McAllister. Last fall, he layered
        on 155 of them.
    * Americans allegedly own 1.5 billion T-shirts, enough to
        encircle the globe 34 times.
So the next time you plan creative solutions, consider the classic T-shirt, lanyard, mug, or pencil.  There's so much to appreciate with these surprisingly versatile standards.

5 Great Reasons to Give a Gift
Cynthia Ironson

It can get a bit "ho-hum" to give gifts only when the big man in the red suit says "ho-ho-ho."  There are plenty of other reasons you can give business gifts.  Choosing items, however, can be tricky if you don't keep some basic guidelines in mind.
1.  Your client visited your trade show booth.  Hey, they took the time to come see you.  You take the time to thank them...and then be sure to follow up with them after you send the gift.  Your thoughtfulness might just inspire them to place an order.
2.  One excellent reason companies give gifts to clients is to show appreciation for a referral.
3. You want to thank the client for an important order.
4. Your client opened up a new facility or branch office.  They are branching out.  Sent them a card with a tree seedling packet.
5.  Your client has reached a company milestone - say, five, 10, 25 years with the company.  Their company will recognize their loyalty, but you will shine if you remember them too.  Think about: vases, watches, specially etched champagne bottles, or a celebration-themed basket of assorted goodies.

Bisphenol A (BPA) Response
Despite recent negative reports of the use of BPA in plastic containers, the US FDA has conducted studies and continues to disprove these negative reports.

"The use of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins for food contact applications has been and continues to be recognized as safe by the US FDA, the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Food, the UK Food Standards Agency, the Japaneese Ministry for Health, Labor and Welfare, and other regulatory authorities worldwide."
Polycarbonate Plastic is safe, highly durable, lightweight, resistant to stains and odors, and able to withstand extremes of hot and cold.  It is an environmentally responsible material and continued use of it is encouraged.
